The afternoon before Wahine day I purchased a new motor vehicle. The storm of the next day was such that there was no way I was going to take that car out with roofs flying everywhere, etc. However, at about 11.15am the phone went. My mother who lived alone in Yule Street, Kilbirnie, had locked herself out of the house and I had a duplicate key. So out came the car (storm and all) and my mother was relieved when I cam to her rescue.
