Record your story

Recording your stories keeps family memories alive and preserves Wellington history for future generations. It’s the Wellington Way.

#wellynextdoor caravan

Look out for our comfy, cool caravan at Wellington events.
Step inside our cozy space and use our free recording equipment to interview a special person:
    •    Family member
    •    Partner
    •    Friend
    •    Neighbour

We all know someone who has a story worth sharing. Sometimes all we have to do is listen. An assistant will be on hand to operate the equipment and help you out.

Book a recording session

To book a free 15-minute session, email wellynextdoor@wcc.govt.nz, and let us know which day you’d like to come.

Interview tips

To begin your interview, introduce yourself and the person you are interviewing, and tell us what your relationship is.

Questions to get you started

Don’t know what to ask? See our Suggestions for questions.

At the end of the interview, you could also briefly share your own memories and experiences of this person.

Share a story from your life that has some meaning for you. From a simple conversation you had at the bus stop this morning, to the little things we do for our neighbours, or a family story about a relative’s experience.

By submitting your fun, moving or quirky story, you are helping to inspire and motivate other Wellingtonians to celebrate and share the everyday stories we all have to share.
